Hey, Cav. When you say "counting time" exactly what do you imply? At this point in my life, I think that this day is sufficient unto itself.
Hmm...I would say then, that you live in the moment. This diverted from another thread...but it is an interesting question regarding how one measures and/or accepts the concept of time.
I am here now -- living in the moment.
Living for today
Hoping for tomorrow's call
In quiet of dawn
Good on ya Frank, my opinion on the question is already known. Waiting for the 'nons' so to speak...
just dropping by 2 offer my here, here, here!
(and 2 send yet another interesting thread into 'my posts')
not a huge showing 4 the marking time brigade, what?
hmmm; it just occurred 2 me i had taken a hand in instigating this, then bongoed off, gadding about as usual, abbandonning poor Cav; but there's nary a fly in our little web here, eh!
Gotta fly (almost literally); but i'll b back (warningly)
I like to plan. Does that constitute "marking time?"
I tend to worry - but would like to live in the moment.
Am I counting time?
Which thread did it divert from?
Shucks, I just like counting.
Counting my blessings.
Counting my chances.
Counting our chances.
Counting my flight hours.
Counting my altitude.
Counting my airspeed.
Counting on a safe landing.
Counting on discovering the right thing.
Counting on a safe landing.
With each death in my extended circle, which happens more frequently with age, until there are only 2 or 3 left, i realize that the moment is all i can count on, so i don't bother counting it, but live it.
By "counting time" do you mean birthdays, accomplished goals, keeping score or something else?
It is better to enjoy the present moment instead of dwelling in the past or worring about the future. But you will not live long if you cannot remember past mistakes and plan for the future.
And part of the enjoyment of today is sharing our memories, hopes and dreams with others. Is that counting?
I ain't sure how you count time...
Counting time to me has a double meaning, both marking time with dire expectations, and also literally measuring time, but I hope to not complicate things here.
I suppose we could focus on the question of: we all have to count time, in order to get through our day, show up "on time", etc., but how is it that we prefer to live? That, and how does one integrate 'keeping time' or 'measuring time' with 'living in the moment'?
I count every minute, when necessary, to pull "it" off, whatever "it'" may be.
