I've got a DSL modem to connect to the internet. This connects to a Belkin wireless router. My desktop computer connects to the router via an ethernet cable. My printer is connected to the desktop computer. My laptop connects wirelessly. The internet connection is fine. I'd like to be able to access the printer from the laptop. Can it be done? How?

I'd already done that. So far it hasn't helped.

No. I don't know how to set it up. The network setup wizard doesn't help

I've made some progress. I can actually see the shared documents folder on the desktop from the laptop now. But I can't see the printer. The printer is set up to be shared.

I think the problem was the correct selection in the network setup wizard on the desktop. Once I got that right, it just fell in to place without really trying.

True.

There were a couple of cars at the beginning where that didn't work as well, but that makes 'em more interesting, anyway. More suspense when you step on the brakes.

Wish I'd written all the steps down. I was having some trouble with my desktop. It wasn't indicating when new mail arrived, and I couldn't connect to the printer from my laptop. So I did a system restore to an earlier time, and lost the network completely. Tried to undo the restore, but it wouldn't undo, and I couldn't restore to any other point. I ended up doing a re-installation, but there's still nothing I can do to get my network and printer sharing working.

I got it working again. And so I don't forget for next time, I used the residential gateway option on both machines, and I had to set my firewall to trust the IP address of the other machine and the router.
