Either they do or they don't. Not talking about winning. Talking about hating.

the winning is one of the main reasons people like to hate 'em.

no one hates the devil rays.
why?
because they suck...

(just sayin')

Okey dokey, reg. Not gonna go into my feelings on being a fan, etc., on this thread.

Every now and then, the comments about hating the Yankees get to me. I made a small response. I'm moving on.

Have we already forgotten the Yankees down 0-2 to the Athletics in 2001 coming back to take the series 3-2?

That was a series which had two Jeter plays now etched in the memories of Yankee fans (and no doubt Athletic fans). One was where Jeter ran full speed toward the railing to catch a foul pop and after making the catch went headlong deep into the seats. The other was where a throw to the plate from the outfield went over the head of the cutoff man, but Jeter recovered it near the plate and in a continuous motion made a backhand flip to Posada who tagged out the incoming runner.

No offense to Miss Roberta.

You do have to wonder, though, about nature rising up against the Yankees.

Sorry to stir. I have ultimate respect for the Yanks, and am even rooting for them, just to get a Boston rise going, but Big silly spending does not set well in small markets.

jes, Not sure I follow your comment about nature rising up.

flyboy, Thanks for reminding me of that play. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Rockhead, I know that people resent the Yankees because they spend like money is going out of style.

So it's the winning and the spending that people don't like. I don't care about either (although I prefer winning to losing). I'm a fan whether they win or lose (disappointed tonight). Whether they spend or not. This is a hometown, hometeam issue for me.

Oh the nature comment is re the bugs (Canadian soldiers). Apparently in Cleveland they're only active once per year, and it just so happened to be during the second game of the Yanks' series.

Hang on, I'll post the schedule in a moment. Gotta get someone a password.

I have heard talk of importing the bugs on a secret mission to Fenway.
Before Boston devours the Indians, I would like to commend Eric Wedge, and to state that his entire college town is very proud of him.

This is why we've cleverly reduced our exterior temperatures by about 25 degrees F. The bugs won't stand a chance. If that doesn't work, we call in this guy:

The difference-maker in Game 5 was that we were wearing our paraphernalia. We will do again tonight. Go Sawx!!!

Must be some POWERFUL stuff. Be careful, possession of paraphernalia is a misdemeanor in most states. Game 7 it is...
