Do have a look at this site of a friends images - she is a very talented high flying photographer who has taken photos in Mongolia over several years now.

She has had access to places no tourist would ever normally go, being invited to the opening of a new monastery, to visit the holocaust museum (for the thousands of monks killed by the communists), is a visiting lecturer at a university there, has friends amongst the nomadic people living in the gers ... her photos are amazingly intimate and fascinating.

She has visited several American unis as a visiting lecturer.

if you like them you will find further sites by putting her name in on Google

Those are spectacular, Vivien! I kept trying to decide which one was my favorite, and there were several, but this one in particular caught my eye:

I love the color and the diversity of her subjects. The photo of the small front yard was number two on my list -- it actually reminded me of some of the small yards of Mexican immigrants in SW Texas.

Very neat -- thanks for posting the link to her work!

I love them!

This looks like a painting from old Europe. Northern Europe -dark clothed people in dark scenes with bright round faces..... anyone know who I'm think of?

Hey Vivien, thanks for bringing your friend and her work to our attention. These are fabulous and I'm only looking at what's been posted here. I love the photo of the guy in a business suit talking to the other in what appears to be native dress, with his horse in the background -- what a meeting! Please tell your friend that I, for one, am totally impressed.
