The A/C is located on top of my roof. Is the leaking normal or am I overusing my A/C. I live in a town house.
Normal?? I looked around my 4 neighbor's A/C and theirs don't leak. Although I know they hardly use the A/C at all.
Air conditioners produce condensate...water dripping from the coils.
In a window unit, normally it just drips to the ground, maybe making a little puddle {this is an excellent place to shoot mud daubers....a type of wasp....with a BB gun}. In central air units, usually found on a small concrete pad behind the home, the water trickles out of an opening in the back, and unless piped away, also tends to form a little puddle, but often not seen. Roof mounted units will typically have some kind of drainage system....a pipe, or even a hose...attached so the flow of water can be diverted in a way that nothing gets wet that shouldn't be.
The more it runs, the more water it will produce.
Is it leaking onto the roof?
If so, the drainpipe trap is probably plugged and will need cleaned out.
