Last Friday afternoon around 4,
after having delayed a conference,
an attorney of my acquaintance for 11 years
was very polite, as was his wont;
he apologized to the court and all counsel, for his delay.
I asserted that he had been put in an
impossible position, being required to
participate in 3 conferences, simultaneously,
and that he had executed his function
as well as any man possibly cud have.
He accepted my compliment, with grace.
Yesterday, he was found dead in his home in Philadelphia.
I was glad that the last words that I had spoken to him
were a compliment in recognition of his professional excellence.

I'm sure he appreciates it.
