How about the animated movies? I thought "Finding Elmo" was special in promoting diversity and helping your fellow 'man'. I'm sure there are others, right? For the younger audience.

eoe, that is a good idea. But, I've been coached by my own teachers to stay away from lessons using personified animals. When I watch thos movies I'm thinking, pffft! Those turtles would eat Nemo and Dory, not help them find this current which looks inexplicably like a roller coaster. My niece has come to view my running commentaries as somewhat amusing.

Just nothing there but since IMDb does cover TV, it came up with an ABC After School Special, "Taking a Stand" from 1989:

Neighborhood starts examining their feelings of racism when one of the neighbors is caught vandalizing the home of a black family, and people start taking sides.

It is the film forum, not the TV forum

Well, in my defense, there isn't a TV *and* Movies forum.

You're question I took as looking for films. They're TV movies but even the one I found isn't on DVD, not even on VHS.

I'm interested in anything - but only if I can view it. That means it does have to be either VHS or DVD.

I'm sure we've all seen the sweet fairy tale from the early 70's (I think) about the little round head boy named Oblio, who was drummed out of a town of only pointy head people. I can't think of the title now but there was Arrow, his loyal dog, who was pointy and angular like his name suggests. Everyone had suggestive names in that regard, like Oblio. It was very cute and clever and sad and loaded with lessons.

"The Point" is on DVD:

and check out the cast:

Ringo Starr narrating!

It was the beginning of George Aliceson Tipton's career as a composer who is responsible for the soundtrack and eventually ended his career by composing the music for "The Golden Girls."

Well, we're officially back on TV!

It looks like that's the only hope finding anything about race relations aimed at a very young audience. Otherwise, they are R rated. The trick is finding them on DVD.

I am going to assume someone mentioned "Stay Away, Joe."

If memory serves me, this fantastic movie, in which Elvis played an Indian, won critical claim for its handling of the race relation issue.

The particular race relation issue in this movie was Indian/White with just a little Chinaman/Irish thrown in.

When some one mentioned animated race films - they one that comes to mind for me is The Sneetchers. Remember the one with the stars on their bellies were the best Sneetchers on the beaches.

It's a PG rated. While most Elvis movie fare is today suitable for younger audiences, I'm not sure about their response. It's a musical comedy ans I don't know of any Elvis movie that won critical acclaim for anything except, perhaps, "Jailhouse Rock."
