PUEO SIGHTING!!!!

When in August?

The Jabberwocky is a language, not an entity, I thought.

I believe you may be a Snark, or a Boojum - thought I may well be wrong.....

Whatever it is, it looks scary (atleast to a cute squirrel, I dunno abt fearsome bunnies who are born in August)

A virtual treasure of magical animals can be found in Harry Potter books - though for the life of me I cannot remember their names.....

What are the plans for the 7th anyways dlowan ? Drink till you drop (yr pants to moon ala Craven) ?

Shocked

Certainly not!

The day is a weary work day, like any other.

Cos I was sick for so long, I haven't the energy to organise the drinks thingy that I will have later - but various friends are doing dinners and lunches and suchlike - the first one was last Sunday - and there is one this Saturday night, and Sunday, and another a bit later.

JABBERWOCKY
Lewis Carroll

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrave.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jujub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrave.

LOL - the annotated Alice is great for understanding Carroll's "portmanteau" words.

There you go - I was half right - "Jabberwocky" is the language - the Jabberwock is another hunted beast!

I think a rath is an animal, possibly also the toves and the borogoves, though I usually think of the borogoves as happy plants waving about.

Lovely to celebrate a birthday with chocolate cake, that's what I think, especially if it has fudgy frosting and there's ice cream. With cake I tend to be a vanilla fan, but in celebrating Mr. Piffka's brithday last month we found a wonderful new (to us) ice cream called Mud Pie. Anybody know that one? And of course the only alcohol that goes really well with chocolate cake is champagne. I hope you have all those things, d, several times over. Hang the calories.

Thankee, but I don't like champagne - unless it is obscenely costly! The cake will, I hope, only happen once! 'Tis a work ritual.

Only once? What kind of birthday attitude is that?

It is true, cheap champagne is worse than beer.
