A "Lord, I'm Bored" Digression - or "What Animal Is .....?"

I understand it all except:
Quote:
I'll put it in the hutch with my rabbit and then make a sign for the dairy in the morning.

What??? The dairy takes rabbits? So confusing. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, eh?

I've been trying to think what LittleK's animal might be. Maybe a dolphin? So smart, surfaces with a splash, likes the water, family oriented... what do you think? One of our British friends must be a badger... unless Sozobe has picked that one for herself. How about Margo as a Koala?

Guatam -- if you're going to be a squirrel, you must be an exotic one... this is a special kind, very fancy!, that lives south of the Grand Canyon...a kaibab squirrel.

Although this one (I think it's a squirrel) is from India:

Piffka,

The Indian squirrel has 3 white stripes on its back. According to the legend, when Lord Rama was building the bridge to Sri Lanka to rescue his wife Sita from the demon king Ravana, the squirrel tried to help by bringing small pebbles in its mouth. Lord Rama, caressed its back as a sign of gratitude and left three white stripes, which Indian squirrels continue to have till this day.

Cool!

Am I a badger? Not sure if I'm mean enough. I mean I CAN be mean, to be sure, but badgers are almost nothing BUT mean.

I like dolphin for littlek!

Really? What a great legend, I love it. You just know these??? Did your mom tell them to you or what? When you see her, tell her I'm impressed that she taught you so much! And ... a bridge to Sri Lanka? Doesn't that sound like it should be a title for a book?

Well, that photo I found doesn't show any stripes so it must not be a squirrel. (Google image SAID it was a squirrel!)

Sozobe -- Are badgers mean? I thought that was wolverines. Glad you like littlek as a dolphin, I wonder what she'd think?

Piffka,

I have read both the Ramayna and the Mahabharata, these two epics are a virtual treasure house of legends. One day, I plan to read them in original, but they being holy books, it is kinds difficult to read them on the train if you know what I mean Smile They are treated as "god" himself.

Most of my knowledge abt legends come from my maternal grandmother, with whom we used to spend the better part of the summer holidays. I wish she was still alive, I would have passed on yr compliments to her.

The bridge to Sri Lanka was built by Rama to cross the ocean. The legend says that the stones which were used to build the bridge floated in the water when the word "Rama" was engraved on them.

Also, Rama "flew" back to Ayodhya, his kingdom after defeating Ravana, in what is described as a "pushp vimaan" - we hindu's believe that the modern aeroplane was invented back then Smile

I love that stuff, Gautam.

Hmmm, maybe this does fit:

I have to admit, I was a bit confused about the dairy thing too...I think it may have been a misspelling of 'diary' as the post was a personal one.

How interesting, G. I'm sure the airplane was invented back then, too! I've never read either of those two epics. I have read the story that starts on a battlefield, the Bhagavad Gita, but can't remember much. The Hindu religion has just about everything, doesn't it? Very deep.

Sozobe -- I thought badgers were supposed to be excellent at raising their young. I'm surprised it said that badgers were solitary -- maybe that's just those from North America. The ones in Britain maintain large "setts" for a group of animals. Here's a cool website:

Cav -- A sign for the diary? Hmmmmm. Oh well, it was sort of a sidelight to the story. Did you decide what your animal might be? I liked Osso's idea of a fine dressage horse... even started to get a cool photo for you last night but got carried away reading websites and then fell asleep.

Just skipped from page 1 to page 12 and will return and read the intervening comments. BUT, at the risk of repeating someone else, you are so NOT a bunny, Deb. We have to do better than that.

Ok, done. And littlek can't be a dolphin. I yam what I yam, and I have staked out the territory in The Sargasso Sea.

ehBeth is a butterfly. Debacle is the badger.

Can't we have two dolphins? Perhaps one of them is a porpoise, then...

You can have as many dolphins as you like! I have spoken - and, today, I got HORMONES!

Smeg the tiddlywink badgers, got a grizzly bear I can fight?

Oh - and I do not stop for sex when I am fighting, so all that slanderous crap can stop now! Ok? Not worth trying to distract me - even Bugs, should he turn up, shall remain chaste for all of me - I could even resist that charming, toothy, rabbit avatar of Craven's ..... though, if that little tiger rabbit turns up....NO! I remain resolute! Give me your grizzlies, your wolverines, your pumas, your jaguars, your timber wolves!

And what was all that about rabbits and "he"?
