I previously posted this thread,
explaining my observation of a depraved act on a NYC bus :

" On a very crowded bus in NYC, during evening rush hour,
as a passenger was walking off the bus, he reached thru some ' strap hangers '
said ' excuse me ' to said hangers of strap,
dropped a $5 bill on the lap of a little boy
who was seated on the bus, and left.

Children r ofen advised not to take cash from strangers,
because of the danger thereof, but in such a circumstance,
what is the best procedure for a child ? Shud he call 911 on his cell fone ?

In theory, the child might have loaned the guy
the cash on some earlier occasion,
but on the basis of observation, that hardly seems likely. "

NOW, following up,
in your opinions, as a matter of PURE justice,
WHAT is the correct length of prison time
for this offense of dropping money on a boy ?

If this was an act of kindness, say the guy thought the kid looked poor, and he wanted him to have some candy, where's the harm?

He singled the boy out.

Maybe the parents were not around.

( The kid did not look poor.
He looked middle class. )

Why are you persuing this to such lengths Davo?

What is your ultimate aim.

Has there been a similar case in court where the dropper was (unfairly) dealt with?

Were you the dropper and did not expect/understand the reaction you got?

Stop talking about prison as 'justice', when clearly all you want is revenge.

This is the forum for philosophy and debate;
possibly for debating philosophy.

I am not certain that the reasoninig of original thread was fully explored.
Does it gall u that he GOT AWAY with it ?

In these fora, our ultimate aim is to consider concepts from various angles, pro and con.

Sometimes we seek concrete information,
such as when I was researching which was the best selection of HDTVs available.
In this case, we can conduct some thought experimenst; adventures in reasoning ( IF u think its interesting ).
