For any Army of Darkness fans, Bruce Campbell shines as a nursing home bound Elvis Presley who kicks undead mummified ass. Short and sweet, this. <where's my wine>

Some memorable quotes:

Elvis: "You nasty thing from beyond the dead, no matter what you think or do, good things will never come to you. And if evil is your black design, you can bet the goodness of the Light Ones..."
[begins to slow the recitation from disbelief]
Elvis: "... will kick your bad behind"?
[muttering to himself]
Elvis: For chrissake!
[to the heavens]
Elvis: That's it? That's the chant against evil from the "Book of Souls"? Oh yeah, right, boss. And what kind of decoder ring comes with that, man? ****, it don't even rhyme well!
Bubba Ho-Tep: [regains consciousness, rises, and speaks in ancient Egyptian] Eat the dog dick of Anubis, you ass-wipe!

But, Ho-Tep's dialog came out of him like bad 50s graphics, they swooped out and lined themselves up for us to view and then there was the translation below.

I told you. Very Happy

It is the best bad movie ever. There is something about that movie I love.

NOW, your movie should be here in two days and the next one you told me in four days.

I promised the two people I am living with that I would get these two movies for them (one each). They are far from artsy or intelectuals. They can't understand why I would want to watch movies with subtitles. Rolling Eyes

But now they are appeased and your movies are next.

Believe it or not, this is not considered a bad movie by most film critics:

Check out the review by Roger Ebert in the Cream of the Crop section, lower right.

Excerpt:

Bubba Ho-Tep

BY ROGER EBERT / October 17, 2003

Cast & Credits
Elvis: Bruce Campbell
Jack Kennedy: Ossie Davis
Nurse: Ella Joyce
Administrator: Reggie Bannister
Bob Ivy Kemosabe: Larry Pennell
Callie: Heidi Marnhout

Vitagraph Films Presents A Film Written And Directed By Don Coscarelli. Based On The Short Story By Joe R. Lansdale. Running Time: 92 Minutes. Rated R (For Language, Some Sexual Content And Brief Violent Images).

Elvis and JFK did not die, and today they're roommates in an East Texas nursing home whose residents are being killed by an ancient Egyptian Soul Sucker named Bubba Ho-Tep. I want to get that on the table right at the get-go, so I can deal with the delightful wackiness of this movie, which is endearing and vulgar in about the right proportion. The movie doesn't exactly work, but sometimes when a car won't start, it's still fun to look at the little honey gleaming in the driveway.

Tonight, we watched another gem: Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000)- or "I Found It" -- which is a Bollywood adaptaion of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility Laughing
Pretty funny at times, but...looooooong.

Shewolf - Yeah! You know, there aren't many people who even know about him and his silly movies.

I missed the last chunk of the Bollywood movie. I had to go to sleep at around 2:30 am. Oof.
