Rainsoft Gold Brine Tank Question

H20Man, Help!

I purchased a used Rainsoft Gold unit and have everything connected but a couple lines going to/from the brine tank.

About 6 inches from the top of the brine tank is a gray plastic barb fitting with no line attached. What does this go to?

Also, there's a clear plastic line (~3/8 inch) coming out of the controller but isn't connected to anything.

I would initially think that these two would connect together, but the barb fitting on the brine tank is slightly larger than the clear line coming from the controller. I don't want to force it on unless I'm sure that's where it goes.

I have pictures if that helps, though apparently I can't post them here on this forum without hosting them somewhere else on the web.

The grey barb sounds like the brine tank overflow port.
It is a gravity drain. you can attach a line to it that feeds into a bucket or to a floor drain.

The clear plastic line could be the brine line or the drain line.
Can you post a picture?

The clear line is your drain line.
It needs to make as short a run as possible to a vented/trapped drain.

What about the barb fitting on the brine tank?

HEY! Looking at the pictures of your Gold Series Rainsoft...

It looks like the valve body of a Fleck Proflo (5000). You can get a manual at www.fleckcontrols.com

But h20_man says the Gold Series uses a "bastardized Fleck 5600". He said the same thing about the Rainsoft Silver Series too but just yesterday admitted he was wrong and it is a Fleck ProFlo (5000). He included a link to the .pdf manual too. The thread is; I was off by 600 dated yesterday.

More Rainsoft Gold Questions/Issues
H20_MAN

Thanks for your help plumbing the brine tank on my Rainsoft Gold. Now that I have the system running it's great. But water constantly runs down the drain line. Is this normal? I've been through 2 regenerations in the last couple weeks, one manual one automatic, and the water flow down the drain continues.

What can I do?

Also, how do you set the clock on this thing? It's off by about 11 hrs.

Email me with your mailing address and I send you a copy of set up instructions for the Gold series.

Water running to the drain:
Resin or other debris may have gotten up into the valve.
By pass the system and wait for the pressure to bleed off.
Pull the drain fitting keeper and pull the drain fitting from the valve.
Check for debris inside the drain fitting and clean out any that you find.
Look inside the port on the valve with a flashlight - what do you see?
Slowly open the by pass valve on the inlet side and see if any water/debris escapes from the drain port.

Let the water pressure flush the port and/or try to flush the drain port with water before you reassemble the drain line.

Once the drain line is reconnected take the system off bypass and put it into backwash.

If this does not work you may need a new seal/spacer/piston kit. (service call)

HTH ~

Thanks! Could it also be the water pressure, since it's a new house? what pressure rating does the Amazon gold system have? 80psig? 60psig?

Another q: what do you mean by "put it into backwash"? Sorry for the newbie questions...

120 psi

Put the system into manual regeneration/backwash.

I received your mailing address and will mail the instructions this week.
