I think Tom Cruise as a person is a complete asshole. But there's been a couple of roles I've liked him in as an actor.
Tom Cruise doesn't act AT ALL, he's just himself in every role. Oh, to think that Nicole Kidman almost sacrified her career for his untallented ass! the horror!
as overrated, I'd also say Kim Basinger. I really don't see why they gave her an oscar
Yeah tom Cruise is a jerk.
He's a JERK.
David Caruso and the rest of them on MIAMI CSI
Keanu Reeves. He's adorable until he speaks.
also, julia roberts. totally overrated.
yeah, al pacino is a bit overrated. i mean, with him and deniro, it's hard to like, dettach yourself and think of them as the characters they're playing. you just see them as pacino and deniro.. at least i do.
Keanu Reaves you know what I mean dude?
Keanu may be popular, except that more than one of his movies have flopped at the box office and his career was actually saved by "The Matrix" which was perfect for him, but he's hardly over-rated. Film critics don't particularly care for his performances, he's certainly not received any nominations for any important awards, and I don't think he cares. He knows he's getting by on looks.
Not an actor and this belongs in the TV section but welcome to A2K anyway!
John Wayne.
Actually, many of the folks nominated here are stars not actors.
People go to see stars in familiar roles. Actors actually act.
"Stars" is a generalization as a marketed human product but, you're right, there are more stars than there are genuine actors, more so today than ever before I'm afraid.
Jim Carrey.
In his first comic roles, he was funny, in his first sad roles he was touching. Now he's doing the same things all over again.
