@Letty,
I like Sam Neill as an actor and Coldplay are great, Miss Letty.

Yes, Michael Keaton's Batman movies were good. I think it was the Clooney and Kilmer ones that stank.

Now I did see Jurassic Park and Michael Keaton as Batman. Personally, I have not been a big fan of Batman movies.

euro, Thanks again for your comments and once again you sent me searching.

Jack Lukeman, usually simply known as Jack L, is an Irish songwriter, musician, record producer, vocal artist and broadcaster known to perform in English, Irish, French, German, Czechoslovakian and Maori.

Wow! What a talent. Georgie Boy was great.

Had no idea that Brian Wilson did that one from Porgy and Bess, Irish.

Well, edgar, that was then; this is now. I wouldn't watch Dark Knight Rising, either. Missed your Boot Song. Back later to acknowledge.

Here is one to match Brian's.

And, The Seekers do Georgy Girl.

Here's one of my favorites by Hank Williams.

@edgarblythe,
Never heard When Lights Are Low by Tony, edgar. Not bad. Glad that you enjoyed Hank.

Thinking of Johnny Mercer again, and here he is doing a good one.

Hope euro returns and listens to my Porgy and Bess matches.

Lots of great music folks.
Two greats, Tony & Hank. First time meeting Andris, a wonderful version Miss Letty.
I knew I'd like Boot Scootin' Boogie before I even heard it.
Now Georgy Girl by the Seekers brings back painful memories. Wink
I was 6 or 7 when that was out and of course I had to suffer being called that.... and the rest. Smile

@eurocelticyankee,
Thanks for your comments, euro. Some insurance guy asked me to sing that one by the Seekers, sooooo, I learned it and sang it at a club called The Sahara.

Love, Smoke, Smoke, Smoke that Cigarette, buddy.

Here's a nice jazz tune by The Duke, and lyrics to match as written by Johnny Mercer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EkB2eb6M98&feature=fvwrel

Cigarette holder which wigs me
Over her shoulder, she digs me.
Out cattin' that satin doll.

Baby, shall we go out skippin?
Careful, amigo, you're flippin',
Speaks Latin that satin doll.

She's nobody's fool so I'm playing it cool as can be.
I'll give it a whirl but I ain't for no girl catching me,
Switch-a-rooney!

Telephone numbers well you know,
Doin' my rhumbas with uno
And that 'in my Satin Doll.

Hurry back, euroGeorge and Welcome back Latin George.

I love Satin Doll as well.

Going to say goodnight with two songs.

When I was talking about daddy long legs, I discovered that Fred Astaire was in a movie by that name.

So here's a tribute to the man.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-1fQgWTFfE

I altered the lyrics a bit to fit the great dancer.

Someday, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight

Ah, but You're handsome with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me but to love you
And the way you look tonight

With each smile your tenderness grows
Tearing my fears apart
And that laugh, that wrinkles your nose touches my foolish heart

Don't you ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight

Now, Nat. (hope London is alright)

Glad to have Dublin with us today. Hope all is well with Ontario and Scotland.

From Letty with love to the world

quite a few musical birthdays to celebrate today .
here is the first one : Roy Acuff

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yhvv234oaA

Quote:
Roy Claxton Acuff (September 15, 1903[2] – November 23, 1992) was an American country music singer, fiddler, and promoter. Known as the "King of Country Music," Acuff is often credited with moving the genre from its early string band and "hoedown" format to the star singer-based format that helped make it internationally successful.

Acuff began his music career in the 1930s, and gained regional fame as the singer and fiddler for his group, the Smoky Mountain Boys. He joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1938, and although his popularity as a musician waned in the late 1940s, he remained one of the Opry's key figures and promoters for nearly four decades. In 1942, Acuff co-founded the first major Nashville-based country music publishing company—Acuff-Rose Music—which signed acts such as Hank Williams, Roy Orbison, and The Everly Brothers. In 1962, Acuff became the first living inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame

and here is the birthday of another great entertainer : Bobby Short .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMLjkIbDid8

Quote:
Robert Waltrip "Bobby" Short (September 15, 1924 – March 21, 2005) was an American cabaret singer and pianist, best known for his interpretations of songs by popular composers of the first half of the 20th century such as Rodgers and Hart, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Vernon Duke, Noël Coward and George and Ira Gershwin.

He also championed African-American composers of the same period such as Eubie Blake, James P. Johnson, Andy Razaf, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, presenting their work not in a polemical way, but as simply the obvious equal of that of their white contemporaries.

His dedication to his great love – what he called the "Great American Song" – left him equally adept at performing the witty lyrics of Bessie Smith's "Gimme a Pigfoot (And a Bottle of Beer)" or Gershwin and Duke's "I Can't Get Started." Short stated his favorite songwriters were Ellington, Arlen and Kern, and he was instrumental in spearheading the construction of the Ellington Memorial in New York City.

Bon Soir to edgar, Latin George, and hbg.

Bon Jour to the rest of us.

Loved Dylan's Baby Stop Crying and Jack White's Poor Boy.

Also enjoyed Wabash Cannonball; Miss Otis Regrets and especially Jessye's Carmen.

For the morning here:

Greensleeves. (this was the one played to alert survivors of The Lost Colony that friends were approaching)

@eurocelticyankee,
Welcome back, Irish, and thanks again for your comments.

Don't know The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, but they are great. Is this the Grace to whom they referred?

How about another Light Orchestra, euro.
