@edgarblythe,
Welcome back to you as well, Texas, and thanks for your comments.

Wow! Leonard breaks all the rules. Love the castle ruins. What a way to sing Greensleeves.

Here's another by the talented guy.

@Letty,
I saw Judy Collins in concert many years ago. She sang Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne."

@wandeljw,
Judy was instrumental in introducing Leonard's songs and getting him over onstage shyness.

Wandel/Goethe, Welcome back to you as well. That was the very first song that I ever heard by Leonard. I remember thinking: "What's a Jewish guy doing singing about Jesus?" Then it occurred to me that Jesus was a jew. Razz

What edgar said Wandel. Judy was fabulous.

Hmmm. today is Marco Polo's birthday. Where's Morgan.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar.

I was teasing Morgan and Marco about the great explorer, Texas. Had no idea that there was another one that did all those films. Amazing! and thanks for your research.

Today is Tommy Lee Jones' birthday, so before we play a tribute to him, let's read some info on the man.

Tommy Lee Jones is an American actor and film director. He has received three Academy Award nominations, winning one as Best Supporting Actor for his performance as U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard in the 1993 thriller film The Fugitive

The Fugitive is a 1993 American thriller film based on the television series of the same name. The film was directed by Andrew Davis and stars Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. The story opens as Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) is wrongfully convicted of the murder of his wife. Soon after, Kimble escapes from custody and sets out to prove his innocence and bring those who were responsible to justice whilst being pursued relentlessly by a team of U.S. Marshals, led by Deputy Samuel Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones).

That was a copy of Les Miserables.

Now, the tribute.

The likeness to Les Miserables seems pretty superficial to me. Incidentally, when pretty young, I saw the Frederick March/Charles Laughton film of Les Miserables. It remains my favorite. But I am going to try out the new one with Russell Crowe

edgar, I love Joan's Silent Running. I had forgotten that movie.

euro, Always leave them laughing, and that version of Ring of Fire was hilarious. Hurry back, Dublin.

Going to say good night myself, and I think that I shall do so with Marty Robbins. I was captivated by that man's voice right from the start. Unusual for your PD.

Love this Hawaiian song by him.

Marty's album of Hawaiian music convinced many of us he started out Hawaiian and somehow came to the mainland to become a country star. Turns out he didn't. I have the album on vinyl. Haven't played it in years.

@edgarblythe,
thanks for " wonderland " edgar !

here is another happy tune by Bert : TOOTIE FLOOTIE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy36A3EzYH4&feature=related

Quote:
He was born in Hamburg, Germany - where he received his lifelong nickname, Fips - and studied at the School of Music there. A multi-instrumentalist, he was hired by Hans Busch to play with his orchestra before serving as a bandsman in the German Navy during World War II. He later formed his own big band, toured with them, then worked as an arranger and producer, making hit records with Freddy Quinn and Ivo Robić. In 1961, he hired The Beatles to back Tony Sheridan for an album called My Bonnie. The album and its singles, released by Polydor, were the Beatles' first commercially released recordings.

Kaempfert's own first hit with his orchestra had been in 1960, with Wonderland by Night. Many of his tunes became better known as hits for other artists

had no idea that he was born in hamburg and also worked with The Beatles .
