Not big on "freedom of speech" when it attacks them.

Awesome

Tristian and the Racial Discrimination Act
Posted on April 7, 2014

My little brother Tristian handed this in as his Yr 11 Legal Studies report! Mr. Lewis has some valid points, but I think the kid deserves a couple extra marks for his renditions of Andrew Bolt. Unfortunately, I think Tristian is starting to “get” him.

Go to the Attorney-General’s site if you’d like to submit an opinion on the proposed amendments.

@hingehead,
I love your little brother.....very platonically, of course.

The teacher needs to get a sense of humour.

Tristian needs to get some basic spelling concepts into his very clever little head!

I so hope that is real....but I suspect it isn't.

On the 8th of April 1933 Adolf Hitler passed a law preventing civil servants from speaking against him. Sound familiar?

@Wilso,
When I first heard about the 'dob in a mate' line I immediately thought 'Stasi' cold war East Germany.

Insiders this week was saying how good it was not to have a poll-driven news cycle. Then the next poll came out - ALP would win on current voter intentions (admittedly without much change in their primary vote).

A week of 'Tony Triumphs' (free trade for all) hasn't overshadowed discontent on pensions, education, health, 18c, PPL and the dames/knights fiasco.

Greens have been the big winners with a near doubling of their primary vote since sep 2013

Love a good cheap shot

30 outright lies Abbott has told.

It's of zero consequence but I remember particularly Abbott saying that his daughters would move into the lodge with him as they didn't want to leave home until they were married. And he knew that one daughter had moved in with her boyfriend. Why the f*** would you lie about something like that? Who gives a rats? Is it just reflex for him?

@hingehead,
When's the double dissolution?

A lie, on average, every six days?

Burning brands and pitchforks time.

Are Aussies that weak and pistol-whipped these days? SMH

Anyone see Turnbull on #QandA on Monday night. Has truly/sadly lost all credibility. I wonder if he has a Kirribilli agreement with Abbott?

I not also that that the paid parental leave proposal has dropped the threshhold to 100k - I wonder if that's low enough for the greens to pass it through the senate?

It still seems like a strange priority. Yes ladies, you can have a year off with full pay to look after your infant and then come back to work. Of course day care is still hard to get and inordinately expensive so it's hardly worth it unless you are on a decent wage (70k plus?) and you'll need gobs of it until child is school age.

Also wonder if Tony as factored in the cost to the public service of all those APS6 and EL2s being paid full time while not at work and paying someone else to do their jobs? Can't tax business to pay for public servants' PPL I wouldn't have thought. APS has 167,527 employees mid 2013 - with 58% being women. That demographic problably translates similarly to the entire public sector of around 2 million employees. With the burden of funding PPL on the already threatened budgets of the state, health and educational institutions - for starters.

@hingehead,
Someone on RN pointed out that subsidised cild care is far more effective than paid parental leave.

Cant believe how silent you are on this rolling clusterfuck we call a government. I'm only really pauing attention via first dog on the moon. But I did bump into an aussie couple who said it was getting ridiculous they had leave the country before there was an assassination.

I did see john oliver did much noted piece on mr rabbit.

And read this via facebook this morning:
