I cleaned my keyboard and the u key is skipping more and more. I like this laptop for A2K, Id hate to have to trash it.
ANY IDEAS for repair? any contact restore sprays or such?
Ok I did it and as you see I got my u back. That leads to a second question, HOW do I get the key back on? uuuuuuu Oh I love the letter u, its so useful in polite communication and it catches rainwater too
let me know when you figger that out. in case the cats decide to give mine back...
I have some killer epoxy.

Upon cleaning the crud out I did not remember eating any of that stuff caught under the key
Of course you didn't eat it. That's why it was under the key.

@farmerman,
My problem is different; the letter(s) on the keys are disappearing, so I make up my own letter labels, and paste them on. A, S, D, C, V, K, L, M, < and (,) seems to be the most used.

Align the key cap directly over the hinge, and equal spacing around the surrounding keys. Push down on the key cap until it snaps into the retainer. If it does not snap right in, you may need to work one corner at a time, start with a top corner and then the bottom.
I use a tracker ball instead of a mouse, and I love popping the ball out (it reminds me of the ball in the movie "Minority Report" and picking out the rings of dust that accumulate around the little metal probes.
I got it all fixed and reinserted the u key so its strait and Im back in business. Lotsa cat fur under the keyboard, I wonder what the other keys look like?
I dont wanna know.I am now of the opinion that laptop keyboards are more unsanitary than toilet seats
