Hey, Lightwizard, I've just discovered the National Film Registry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Film_Registry

It looks like a very well chosen list. I'm going to rent (or occasionally) buy them all. I consider it to be like a really good recommendation of movies to see.

Really? You're going to buy "Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse?

Keep in mind that the National Film Registry is for significant films, not necessarily for good films. Many of the films aren't even on DVD (like, e.g., The African Queen and Wings). That being said, there are some terrific films in the registry. Anyone attempting to see all of them will face a challenge, albeit a very rewarding one.

Why isn't Animal House on the list? That film defined a generation!

I'd agree that it is a very significant film.

You have a point, but generally, I think that seeing any significant film would never be a waste of time. By the way, being a physicist, I actually have seen the Tacoma Narrows film several times.

"Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse" certainly delivers on the film's title, which is something that a lot of other films can't say.

Hypnotic, ain't it?

Some more items on the National Film Registry, and deservedly so. "Duck Amuck" (Warner Bros. 1953):

and "One Froggy Evening" (Warner Bros. 1956)
