Problem adding synchronized captions to video with Jubler, MPlayer and

I've been trying to get Jubler http://www.jubler.org/ to function for a project I'm working on and it tells me it needs Mplayer and Aspell to function. The Mplayer is needed for viewing the subtitles and the ASpeller is needed for spell checking them. There is no manual for the program that I've found on their website. Their FAQ tells me to go here to download Mplayer:

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/dload.html

Their FAQ also says "under Windows [platform] make sure that you do not download the GUI version, since Jubler uses it's own GUI."

Unfortunately, it does not say anything about which of the other versions in the list on the mplayer site should be used. I don't know anything about what I'm looking at and am hesitant to make a guess at downloading anything without some guidance from someone who has knowledge of these things. Can someone take a look at the info on the page I linked to and give me some advice? You need to scroll down the page a bit to find the versions available.

For the ASpell tool it tells me to go here to download it:

http://aspell.net/win32/

The only guidance offered is this "Do not forget to download the apropriate language definitions afterwards. "

I have the same problem here. I know nothing about the list of items given for download and don't know which one to choose.

Any advice on this too?

I found another program (Magpie) that does some of what I need to do for this project.

Am still interested in hearing input from someone as to the versions I should be using for the Mplayer and Aspell utilities.

The Jubler program does exactly what I need without a lot of the extra labor intensive manual tweaking that Magpie will require.

@Butrflynet,
For anyone in the future looking for a similar program to do this, the Magpie program turned out to be excellent. It did everything exactly as I wanted. The manual was user friendly and very easy.

I could import the caption text file, merge it with the video and then add time synchs to it. When done, I was able to export it out to QT format.

Here's the link for it. There are versions for several platforms.

I had a look at each page, and didn't understand the confusion because you already gave the precise instructions. Basically you get the latest stable mplayer version for your OS without the GUI (they aren't labeled "no GUI" but if it doesn't say GUI it doesn't have it) and for Aspell it's even easier, the first download link on the page is the program installer and immediately below are installers for the languages you want, so you install the main program first then any languages.

But it looks like you got something better anyway so I guess this is moot.

@Robert Gentel,
If you click on the http links on the Mplayer page, it takes you to a page with a list of various bug fixes and updates for various versions of the mplayer.

That's what caused my uncertainty. For instance, click on the alternative builds http link. I had no idea which of them to download.

For the "experimental" builds http link, it has a version log but the descriptions don't say whether they are GUI versions or non-GUI versions. So, the uncertainty was there too.
