Low oil pressure in 92 chevy pickup

How many miles, and what size motor?

and what weight oil do you run.

(is this a new problem?)

this is a new problem its a 5.7 liter with 180,000, and ive been runnin 5/30? i dont have any wierd noises, and it runs fine except for the pressure dropping when at idle, i just replaced the timing chain a month ago, other then that no problems

unless you live Way North, try running a 10/30 oil.

(I have a 90 with 175,000+ and I run 10/40 in it.)

5 weight is awfully thin after they get some use on them.

ok i actually do live prety far north, anchorage , alaska. and i just changed to 10/30 but the pressure is still droppin after warm so should i go heavier

you need 15 lbs of pressure at idle to be safe.

20/50 might work while it is warm, but it sounds like you may have trouble brewing...

well bumer so should i replace the pump or is there a way to tell what is causing the pressure drop

you can put a higher volume pump in it, but the long and short of it is that your bearing clearances have grown to the point that you are on the twilight of the motor.
