I have a Rainsoft system that I purchased in 1999. The system is not working. The computer control shows a 2 on the far left side and a 0 on the far right side on the computer screen. I have tried to start the system manually but it does not start. Can someone tell me what to do to fix this problem.

Unplug it then plug it back in. That seem to fix most problems.

Yes, but you need to remove the 9V battery first so that the memory is cleared.

Unplug it, remove the battery - wait 10 minutes, install a new battery them plug it back in.
If the computer re-booted you will need to press quiet alarm and then reprogram your settings.
If nothing changes, you are SOL because your RainSoft system is obsolete and dealers are not working on them.

To err is human,
But to really foul things up,
You need a computer...

So you should mentioned how to get into the programming and write down the settings before removing the battery and unplugging the control valve.

So you should turn out the light after you're done sweeping the floor.

If it's after sunset I do do that.

What I don't do is tell a member to do something that will erase their control valve programming without first telling them how to find and to write down the data so they don't ruin their softener.

Slusser, I realize that you don't have a clue how the RainSoft Q works... maybe
Debbie can fill in the blanks for you since she has owned the system since 1999.

2 on the right and 0 on the left usually points to a stuck piston, possibly a sheared pin. I'd replace the 3 o-rings on the piston, lube them with dow 111 and replace the shear pin , just to be safe.
