I know there are many thousands of homosexual Christians in the world. Some build their own churches. Others attend "regular church." Some become priests, but that is not what I am after. My thought: How can straight Christians attempt to close the door to Heaven for these believers in Jesus?
I am angered by the Christians who say that the door to heaven is closed for things like that. In the Bible there is only one sin that closes those doors. Not accepting christ as your savior.
Many Churches make up extra criteria, like no suicide and such but that is completely refuted by the Bible.
How can any group, religious or otherwise, condemn one group of people just for their sexual orientation if they do no harm to others? c.i.
Love thy neighbour.
It's not just a concept.
If Christians are not hypocrites, they should follow what the Bible teaches on this issue.
So what does the Bible teach about homosexual conduct?
At Leviticus 20:13, the god of the Bible instructs Moses:
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be
put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their
lives."
So the answer to your question Edgar seems to be:
The should not attempt to open the door to Heaven -- or close it. They should simply dispatch any known homosexuals as quickly as possible and let their god sort out the rest.
Many Christians find ways around such passages, as you know, Frank. I'm anxious to see how it's done.
Frank,
If theya re to take the Bible literally nobody would ever have a chanc to discover a homosexual. The Bible says to stone any child who says something disrespectful to his/her parents.
With or without the parent's permission.
finding ones ways around bible passages is a fine christian tradition
I know it's a tough thing to do, but I really wanted to hear from a Christian or two. Has the world gone mad? Are all of us heathens?
Craven, If I'm not mistaken, it also says the child should stone his own parents if they do not believe in the bible god. c.i.
I do not recall that ci.
Edgar,
I used to be a christian. I was very homophobic but when asked directly my answer would have been to hate the sin and love teh sinner and that the homosexual WOULD go to heaven (but would be ashamed of all his sins).
Yeah, I was really really stupid back then. ;-)
Dylan says: Everybody must get stoned.
I tried very hard to be a Christian once. No matter how I struggled it just wouldn't take. But I do love and respect some who are that way. I just don't discuss you-know-what with them.
yes edgarB, i feel the same way about gnomes
D, you tried very hard to be a gnome?
It's probably easier for a non-cristian to become a cristian than for a non-gnome to become a gnome... I think we've gone astray; anybody for a return to the original question?
i failed the morals clause for gnomedom.
Funny. I failed the one for cristianship. Failed to stone when I should have...
