Warhammer: Mark 0f Chaos won't run with Creative Alchemy

I have just got a new PC with Vista as the OS, I was aware of the problems with X-Fi soundcards and Vista so I downloaded the latest Creative Alchemy to enable Directsound, EAX etc.

When I transmute Mark of Chaos the game refuses to run (I get the small opening screen, the one with the Warhammer logo but that's it) and when I un-transmute it the game will run, albeit without the support for EAX or 5.1 etc. I can select EAX etc. in the game but sound is limited to my front speakers only no sound comes from the rear speakers.

I have successfully transmuted Dawn of War in the Alchemy program but I have no idea what to do with Mark of Chaos.

Anyone have any suggestions?
