Thanks cowdoc. I wondered about the teeth thing -- it did seem that at times he was scraping them against the rocks. (The nodules are about the size of a pea -- just a bump under the skin on the back of the ear. Maybe it's a tracking device! See I don't mind a mystery -- this way I get to make things up.)
This is Everett. When we arrived just before dark he and a couple of buddies were enjoying the clover in the driveway at camp. We had to shoo them away to open the gate. (The baby bunnies were shyer and stayed under the trees.) Early mornings and evening we would see them although never more than two at a time after the first night. There were some suspicious fox yips over the next couple of weeks so it could be that at least one disappeared. The mystery of the fire pit was solved when I caught one sitting in the middle of the cold ashes obviously munching on charcoal. It must provide something they lack.
