Hi there, I dont know whether you can help with this, but I have a collection of cassette tapes with various family bits and pieces on them and I am trying to find a way to get these on to my PC before the sound quality detiriorates. Is there anything on the market that can do this for me?
Thanks.
I would assume the only way is to transfer them to cd first, then to your pc.
There is a piece of hardware called a PlusDeck that fits into a PC bay and can play cassettes which you could transfer to your CD etc. You could google the product.
If your sound card has a line in jack then you can easily just connect a cassette player and record the output to files.
Here is the Microsoft directions for recording from a record player. Recording from a cassette will be similiar
Recording from vinyl to PC

Really? I have to tell my dad about that!
That was quick! Thanks everyone, I've just had a look at plusdeck and think I'll invest in one. Bella Dea, the thought of putting them on CD didn't even enter my head for some reason. When I read your suggestion I had a Homer Simpson moment, when he realises hes missed the obvious.
Thanks again everybody.
You are quite welcome, and welcome to A2K Doowop
I've just ordered one for $109. They were on ebay but the bidding had already reached $99 and so I bought one direct.
While I've been looking around here, i've also found the answer to the problem I'm having with my RainSoft unit. An impressive site you've got here.!
