@smoking gun,
Robert the Bruce or Roibert a Briuis to give his proper gaelic name, his place of birth is not known but is either Turnberry Castle in Ayrshire or Brieux, Normandy. By the way he's still buried down the road from me in Dunfermline Abbey...........although his heart is buried in Melrose Abbey!!!!!!

@contrex,
Very good and I take your point. But honestly, in the end who cares? I live in Canada and am sick to death of hearing about how many ways Canada and Canadians are different from the US and Americans. I have a feeling Canada inherited this neurosis from Scotland. I like everything else we have inherited from Scotland (including several PM's), but I loathe the nationalist crap and the spurious, unproductive resentment. Scotsmen and women have contributed so much to the UK and the world though emphasizing similarities with other Britons. It is that model I would like Canadians to follow in their relationship with their neighbo(u)r.
