Hi mac! I'll have to look up the 'official' description - but the turnip cake was sort of like a baked turnip latke - shredded Chinese turnip (which has a bit of a radishy edge) held together with rice flour - formed into a small patty/cake and baked or fried.

the ones we got at the asian supermarket looked kinda like these
there are other, fried, ones that look errrrmmmmm a bit slimy. not those.
