I have seen this venerable British actor in countless films, but not until I began to look at some of his earlier work did I become really interested in him. My husband showed me "The Good Fairy" and "The Painted Veil," and I was hooked!
It's not easy to find biographical info about him. Anyone know of a good bio or site? Also, would you happen to know the details regarding his loss of a leg?
Miss C,
Welcome to A2K! I don't know much about Herbert Marshall, but a little research revealed this site, and it has some links. Take it out for a spin:

Thank you!
Thanks for the links on Herbert Marshall. One of them notes that it was in WW1 that he lost the leg.
Most notably in "The Letter," Marshall was phographed so that the lost leg which caused a slight limb was never apparant. He was so good in that film, he nearly upstaged the great Bette Davis (but, of course, that's just not really possible).
Where's my manners and the co-specialist of the film forum, yet.
Welcome to A2K and the Film Forum, Miss Carrol!
