Please direct me.

I own an iBook G4. I'm too lazy to explore its built-in capabilities, but I suspect I would have to purchase softwarre for creating my own spoken-word CDs. I will read very short stories, and possibly add really basic music using Garage Band. If I can ever figure that **** out.

What do you recommend in terms of software. No doubt I will also have to purchase a microphone.

I'm a lo-fi kind of guy, so I am not going to fork over loads of cash for the best there is.

Do you have something like this in mind?

ibook has a built in microphone but to tune out noises, you can
buy yourself a good headset with micro around $ 20 and it will work
just fine.

About Amadeus Pro:

Lets you use your Macintosh computer for any audio-related task, such as live audio recording, digitizing tapes and records, converting between a variety of sound formats, etc. Thanks to its outstanding direct-to-disk abilities and waveform caching, edits on arbitrarily large sounds (even beyond the usual 2GB limit) are performed at lightning speed.

Some of the most noteworthy features of Amadeus Pro include:
- Simple and elegant Mac OS X - like user interface.
- Multitrack editing and recording.
- Batch processing and conversion.
- Sound denoising and repairing.
