@realjohnboy,
I stumbled across this thread from a year or more ago. A2K is closing in on 6 years old. Do any of yall remember your 1st post?

I wandered around A2K last night and ended up looking at the first posts that a relatively random group of folks made. Many of us were refugees from Abuzz. The quotes are heavily abridged and bear no connection to each other.

Letty (joined 9/23/02-now at 31,500 posts/19 per day): ""Well, I made it here."
Sozobe (10/16/02-37,000/22): "Nice to see you."
Mysteryman (11/27/02-3,800/2): "Am I welcome here?"
Gus (5/27/03-16,200/11): "A tentative hello from a simple capybara farmer."
Cicerone (10/22/02-42,000/25): It seems I got my wish to be Moderator/Editor of the Travel Forum."
Occum Bill (12/4/03-9,300/7): "Wake up pal."
Dyslexia (11/30/02-22,100/14): "Yesterday was the anniversary of the sand creed massacre."

Mostly, they look like a bunch of nOObs, don't they, ehBeth?

Yeah, that rat was waiting for you, huh, squinney. PDiddie once noted I was the first to welcome him in from Abuzz. Those were exciting times. Hoping the site would make a go of it, and tracking down old friends from Abuzz to make sure it did.

Bethie was here before I was. I think Letty was one person behind me.

@roger,
I was at least a couple of weeks late because I didn't want to bother.
Snort...
(Lightwizard sent me links that I ignored. Such a busy person I was.)

Ah, well. To balance that hubris, I somewhat remember newbies showing up who then became oldies.

I Lied -

Apparently my first post was in a topic called "Redheads (naturally) are more susceptible to pain"...

Quote:
I like this theory - it explains why I am such a wuss at present, when a small medical problem is causing me significant discomfort.

Now I know it's because I'm a redhead, see.
Yes, I know I'm not a natural redhead, but close enough!!!

@Joeblow,
JoeBlow - looks like this might have been your first post (same day as you'd noted for your first thread) as it was responded to with a "welcome" note from l'k.

from that post

Quote:

I've kept my father's birth certificate and his soldier's pay book. They're displayed in a glass topped box along with other items of profound importance to me...an accorn from my son and a small coloured rock....

hell yeah. I seem to recall spending my first few days of posting at A2K consisting mostly of "roger?", "roger, is that you?", "hi, roger", "is roger here?", "I think I saw roger, where'd he go?"

or something striking like

@ehBeth,
Thanks Beth. I saw that one, but after reading a bit saw that I mentioned a grand total of twenty something other posts. I 'm pretty sure they weren't ALL in the testing forum but hey, maybe. I am absolutely certain that my first exchanges were with you and timber, though, and that I stayed here because of them.

(Beams at Beth) Thanks, sugar. For sure my world view has been informed by reading here (which I have, extensively) over the past few years.
