Hi I saw the film today...
I initially thought its just another "Narnia" but then it was incredibly different, so real and so much about childhood relationships...
I miss my childhood after watching this film.
I need to read that book now.
I liked it, what say?
Has anyone seen this film ?
It is not just another Narnia film.
The authors are different to start with.
The name of the imaginary kingdom, Terabithia, sounds very much like Terebinthia, a Narnian island, created by C. S. Lewis for two of his novels Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Katherine Paterson acknowledges that Terabithia is probably derived from Terebinthia.
This is what she says:
"I thought I had made it up. Then, rereading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C. S. Lewis, I realized that I probably got it from the island of Terebinthia in that book. However, Lewis probably got that name from the Terebinth tree in the Bible, so both of us pinched from somewhere else, probably unconsciously."

There are two films
one produced in 1985 and another in 2007
Haven't read the book or seen the film. But, I will be reading it soon. Most elementary students here read the book. And many then see the movie.
I have read the book and loved it!! I lost my brother at 15 and though I read Bridge of Terabithia for the first time at an older age, it helped me in accepting the death of my brother, which didn't happen until I was in my mid 30s.
I haven't seen the movie yet, although I want to.
I am well entrenched in the book now. I didn't think I'd like it, but I love it.
narnia is mentioned by the young'uns in their dialog. It's therefore no wonder that they named their fantasy land after a land in Narnia. However, Narnia isn't the only text that plays a role. Plays by Shakespeare do as well.
