MOTHER
(written by Leslie Joe Taylor, Jr)
She was always there for me,
She was never far away;
That sweet dear mother of mine,
Was there for me every day.
She ached for me when I was sick,
She cried when I was in pain,
She comforted me when I was scared,
Of things like thunder and rain.
She laughed with me when I was happy,
Her smile made me feel good,
She always filled my heart with love,
Just as often as she could.
But now my mother has gone away,
And I miss her so very much;
I wish I could hear her voice again,
I wish I could feel her touch.
I treasure my memories of her,
And though I miss her every day;
I'll remember what she taught me,
About troubles that come my way.
"Look to the Lord above," she said,
"And you shall never fear;
For He shall take care of you,
When ever I'm not near."
The Lord came to me one night,
He said, "My child, do not cry;
Your mother will never leave your side,
And her love will never die"
"She lives inside that heart of yours,
And in your body, soul, and mind.
She will never leave your side;
She's there for you to find".
I've found my mother inside myself,
Her familiar face I now see,
And I can hear her calming voice,
I feel the love she has for me.
Now I know my mother is near,
And that she can hear me too;
I can say what I've wanted to say,
and that is, "Mom, I love you."
