Was the teenage Japanese girl molested by her own father? And how did her mother die? Suicide or was murdered?

I'm wondering where the idea came up that the Japanese girl was raped by her father and that the issued of murder/suicide of the mother was resolved at the end. What the young Japanese girl wanted to remember was that she jumped off the balcony and there was no firearm involved.
