Do they have any value for the investor?
I quadrupled my investment in just one day! :-D
(eg. Someone gave it to me thinking it was a quarter.
Did they design it so poorly on *purpose*?!)
They're worth exactly a dollar - no more, no less.
I take them on my trips to give as tips. They're more prized than the paper dollars. c.i.
I would do that, but they would think I were insulting them with a quarter.
I think Sacagawea dollar coins are much cooler, and they won't be confused with quarters because of their coloring. I bought lemonade from some kids last summer and paid for it with a Sacagawea. The kid was thrilled, "Wow, a gold coin!" It made my day...
they are still around in large quantities. In another 50 years they may be worth $1.10 each or so. They won't do you any good, but you might do some good for your descendants by keeping them.
Why would they start to rust?

If they appreciate 10% in 50 years, an investor might be better off putting the money into a CD, even at today's ridiculously low rates!
I'll just keep them for good luck!
