my problem is that i can only get my pc working online in guest mode- my 2 user accounts wont work-have tried safe mode with networking but nothing.please note that i sys restore wont work either
btw in guest mode online speeds are fine but on some websites some of links, log ins and drop down menus wont work
also whilst surfing i get "microsoft visual c++ buffer overrun c/windows /explorer.exe programs internal state has been corrupted "error message - as long as i dont click it everything is fine , if i do click my desktop disappears
also boot times are at least 50% longer.
i have the various security software and have numerous scans and cleans but to no avail
i have had this prob for nearly 2 weeks
no new hardware/software was added
any specific expert advice appreciated

I recently had a complete meltdown as a result of windows update. First it relocated a dll required for my sound manager, which resulted in it being disabled. By the next day, when I clicked on Start>All Programs I got (empty). System restore didn't help. It was after a full reload when everything was fine, that I allowed windows update to do it's thing, and I subsequently lost my sound manager again. This time system restore managed to undo the damage, and I've since turned off windows update, and just rely on my virus scanner and third party firewall to protect my PC. Maybe you'll have to start from scratch like I did.
