Heh heh.....I am seen as so anti American around here.....in Oz, I am often seen as way too pro American, because I challenge silly statements and general vilifications point by point in a manner frequently seen as very annoying.
I am often then treated to a careful explanation of why I should be anti Iraq war etc etc, and throw people when I carefully explain back that challenging nonsensical falsehoods about the US does not mean that I approve of their foreign policy in many, many instances.

It's the whole "they" thing. I know I've growled at you on occasion, Dlowan, when you have merely failed to say some americans, or I've taken your words as a straight shot, perhaps because I'd had a bit of that prior to reading. I've been berserk about many of my elected government's actions for some long time. I gather, from reading a bunch of the Oz threads, that your society is similarly complex.
What, I don't think it is always such a deal between different countries, as between people who think in generalities -- and it is hard to be instructional about general assumptions in a, say, social conversation over a particular point without standing up on a chair and railing away.
By the way, the fact that children are in school from 12 to 14 years at the expense of the state does not constitute evidence that they have been educated.
