the sawx just busted open a close (7-5) game with 7 in the 7th.
a sweep of the twins is imminent.

all-stah pedroia extended his hitting-streak to 17 games...

I'm watching breakfast with the Sox right now, bottom of the 7th. Wouldn't ya know it the satellite went out during the top of the 7th yesterday and I missed all of the excitement.

ugly win today, but we re-claim 1st place heading into the break.

how does a SP who's 10-1 with a 2.65 era NOT make the all-stah team?
dice deserves to go over halladay, kazmir and santana.

i say get the best players in the damn game.
don't worry about trying to get representatives from the scrubby teams...

I watched out of the corner of my eye. If everybody who got on base had actually made it to home in this game the score would have been 21-18.

Can it be true?

Did I hear the rumor correctly that Big Papi may be back in the lineup in time for the upcoming NYY series?

I certainly hope so Very Happy

that's the word on the street...

meanwhile --

Quote:
Red Sox may let Manny walk
Manny Ramirez's on-again, off-again relationship with Boston management seems like it's off again. Speculation in Boston is if Matt Holliday becomes available the Red Sox might let Ramirez walk and take a run at Holliday. Ramirez, 36, is represented by Scott Boras, who thinks Manny can play until he's 40, and will likely seek a four-year contract for his client, should Boston not bring him back.

Shocked
manny could use a change of scenery.
i don't see colorado giving up on holliday, but i spoze anything's possible...

so after a debacle in anaheim over the weekend, normalcy has been restored in seattle.

lester (7.1 innings, 8 harmless hits, no runs, no walks, 6 K's) & pap shut 'em out on monday.
last night, dice (7.1 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, 6 K's), oki & pap held 'em in check.

we're a half-game behind the rays, who got spanked by oakland, and we're now 53-2 when leading after 8 innings...

Manny Being a Distraction.

he did vent a bit yesterday, then went 3-fer-5 with 2 ribs n' 2 runs.
doubt he'll be going enywhere until after the season...

lester was great again -- 7 innings, 9 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 8 K's.
papi went yard with authority -- the wrist is looking strong...

MUCH better energy and chemistry this weekend, as we sweep away the pesky A's.
quality starts from wake, lester and dice: just what the dawctah ordered.

jason bay looks like a keeper.
he didn't waste any time introducing himself to the fenway faithful.
lotsa hits, good D and hustle... is that so much to ask?

lowrie is making the most of it while lugo languishes.
and youk is helping us to forget u-know-who by sending souvenirs into the monstah seats...

I like the Bay-Lowrie combo. Bay seems to get on base and Lowrie brings him in.

Then again, I'm a Jedhead.

the sawx -- like a lotta teams -- are a bit banged up.
tonight we have a knuckleballer on the mound... but it ain't Wake!
it's career miner leaguer charlie zink...

beckett (8 innings, 7 hits, 1 run, no walks, 8 K's) looked like last year's cy beckett last night, outpitching danks, who held us hitless for 6...

that woulda been embarrassing, blowing a 10-0 lead.
fortunately texas ran outta time-outs before they could kick a field goal.
19-17.
i do believe that's the most combined runs i've seen in a game.
imagine how good they'd be if they had a couple decent starters.

ortiz was apparently robbed of one of his 2 dingers, but another one they allowed looked suspect.

youk's 2 dingers were true!
pedroia had 5 hits, scored 5 runs.
he's having a nice little 2nd basemen battle with kinsler this year.
they're neck n' neck.

true...

hey, how 'bout that Diceman?
he is now 14-2 after another stellar outing (7 shut-out innings, 6 hits, 5 walks, 5 K's)...

the aggregate score of the texas sweep: 37-21!
