Durbin has a local office... I'll call tomorrow.
I bet we got the same Kennedy response you did, littlek.
Perhaps the emails need a little something extra to get them read. "Where would I send a donation of $5,000?" Or the word help in a big font? Or perhaps using a key word that will be more likely to be picked up like. "Although this country has too many guns or bombs..." :wink:
It really is starting to irk me that they didn't even read it.

<waiting>
Yep, I got the same response today. About illegal immigrants and borders...
I am lax and haven't sent my perfect letter yet, at the same time I've little hope in those. Still thinking, with whoever suggested it, My Turn in Newsweek, your local newspaper, some key political blog(s), someone who you know who knows someone. Blog action, the right blogs...
How about an article to Slate? A well written thingamajig to Huffington?
Still following, reading along & waiting for some positive developments, with crossed fingers ....
I have not keep up like I wanted to but, I have still been thinking of you.
I was going to say some of what has been covered by reading back a few pages. So, I don't know if this will help or not. You mentioned the paper.
Here where I live I pick up the phone and call a reporter. They listen to my story. They write the article, not me. These reporters encourage the public to call the newsroom. They want stories.
I did it on something I felt very strongly about. I told my story and a few weeks later someone called me and asked if I knew I was in the paper. I said "no" I don't read it. They said well, you are quoted and there is a story. I get the paper, but won't read it. The reason I won't has nothing to do with this topic.
So, I did read the story the reporter wrote and they quoted me accurately.
This started community meetings because until the story was in the paper people did not know. Local and State politicians attended these meetings.
It turned out to be a good thing.
So, like I said, it may have been suggested already. I don't know.
I do know people are not aware of your situation because I asked some people who live here. So, I still wish you luck even though I don't know you.
OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's so great!
Is this all over?
Do you get to travel and stuff after all, as planned?
WHOO-HOOO!!!
<happy dance>
Yes!!! All over!
Not going to India though. Boss is going alone. It's too short notice at this point, plus I'd rather not go (becoming un-engaged and all...) But I CAN go to Amsterdam! Weeee!
YAY!!!!!!!
Such good news, dag. Congrats, I'm very happy for you (well, at least about the good news part --- sorry about the other part).
I was wondering about the un-engaged part, especially with the interest you were showing in JoeNation's son (cutie for sure)!
That's so great, whew...!
Oh well, so much for sending soz a PM to pry/spy on the unengaged part
Haha, JPB. It's now official. I'll hold an unengagement party. Wait, that would be kinda mean. Just a work visa party then.
Um, the "that's so great" wasn't about unengagement, I just realized it reads that way, sorry...! (I did have my concerns of course but still not to the point of being HAPPY that the engagement is off -- couldn't be fun.)
Nah...it wasn't bad in any way. It just had no perspective. It was just a statement of the obvious.
All good.
All GREAT! (back to work visa)
