I have a loader CD with norton ghost on it, can I plug-in the new hard drive with the old one, and will the ghost read them both? It's been a while since I opened up the box to add anything. Obviously with a 2GB still in operation.....hope this enough info for my question.
You do not say what version of Norton Ghost you have.
Is it on a bootable CD?
Is your intention to clone the 2 GB drive to the 40 GB drive and then discard the smaller one? That would be the most sensible course, at least in my opinion. Any 2 GB drive must be really old and slow by modern standards, and you would be handicapping your system. You may as well discard it, it must be on its last legs. The tiny size will hardly be any use anyway. What OS are you using? It must be pretty old to fit on 2 GB.
Don't forget the jumper settings.
thanks for the reply
2GB to 40GB is correct. My OS is XP home edition. I don't know for sure if the Norton CD is bootable. The guy at computer store where I purchased the 40GB give me the loader CD as it is labeled. He said, "It would format the drive using the norton ghost." I didn't ask what version of ghost he gave me. If I hook up both drives, I was under the impression that the system would recognize both drives. I hope you can understand my questions.
Thank you so much for the help!!!!!
Sounds right to me. These disks are often given with new hard drives. let me know how you get on & if I can help. I have done this myself.
you are so wonderful!! I'm giving it a try tomorrow AM
Thank you again, I will keep you posted, no pun intended, ha!
