Protect Religious Liberty in the Workplace
Since 1993, religious discrimination in the workplace has skyrocketed by 82%. Current civil rights laws have been interpreted too narrowly, forcing many religiously observant employees to choose between their religion and their job. The Workplace Religious Freedom Act (H.R.1431) seeks to remedy this conflict by protecting religious liberties and creating a safeguard against religious discrimination.
This bill seeks to restore Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which states that employers are required to reasonably accommodate the religious practices of employees so long as doing so does not impose an "undue hardship" upon the employer. The Workplace Religious Freedom Act also fulfills the original intent of Congress to provide meaningful civil rights protection by clarifying the definition of "undue hardship" to mean "significant difficulty or expense."
The Workplace Religious Freedom Act is a crucial bill that will preserve both religious freedom and integrity of the workplace.
Tell Congress to act now to prevent religious discrimination in the workplace by co-sponsoring H.R. 1431.
