I just had TW Cable high-speed internet installed. The technician left my cable from printer-to-computer unplugged. He plugged the USB high-speed cable into that port instead. I then put an adapter on my flat cable end of the printer cable and plugged it into the round port. The message I get is "Incorrect Port Detected." I tried different things, but can't get my computer to communicate with my printer. Please advise.
What kind of computer (Windows/Mac) and operating system?
I've had the same problem with those little converter things. You may need to get a USB hub.
No Communication Between Computer and Printer
I have a Panasonic CF-47 Toughbook(laptop) with Windows 98.
Sounds like Bear's suggestion is correct.
I don't know of a round port on a PC that will connect to a printer. Printer connections are typically parallel (wide 25-pin connector) or USB (small, flat connector). The only round connectors I can think of are the keyboard and mouse connections, which definitely won't print.
