For, alas! alas! with he
The light of Life is o'er!
No more -- no more -- no more --
(Such language holds the solomn sea
To the sands upon the shore)
Shall bloom the thunder-blasted tree,
Or the stricken eagle soar!

To one in Paradise - E.A Poe

Shocked and saddened. He was a patient man with wit and wisdom and uncommon knowledge.

My sympathies to Mrs. Timber.

Thanks, Jes, for the wonderful tribute. I can only imagine how hard that was to write.

Yes, I feel exactly the same.

Having a lot of trouble with the "sinking in" process of this sad news.

I mean, there was absolutely no inkling that timber was unwell & he seemed so energetic, so full of life ....
This is so sudden & so final.

Sad

Dammit.

We drove each other nuts, and I like that in a friend.

I am so glad it was quick.

I've just heard of Timber's untimely death. His absence will be felt for a long time to come. Timber was a patriot and his vision was unclouded. He knew the price of liberty, and how to enjoy it. I'm sorry never to have had the pleasure of meeting him in the flesh, but cherish his knowledge and wisdom so unselfishly shared with us all. He was, I think, quite a man and an example for us all. He was true to the principle: "Ever Faithful".

Tempis Fugits, Momento Mori.

Farewell. Rest easy, you've done your best and your duty.

That really is a shock.

Thanks, jes, for your kind words.

I've seldom had the some (politicla) opinnion to timber, but I respected and liked him very much.

May he rest in peace.

I'm so very saddened to read this. I respected Timber so much-- he was always someone I looked to as a model of how to treat everyone with kindness, good-hearted humor, and gentility, no matter how heated the discussion or how much you disagree with their politics.

A2K is lessened by your passing, Timber.

Very sad to hear of timber's passing.

He was one of my favorite posters and I valued his opinion and advice.

Often I would do searches on him just to know what his thoughts were on a subject. I think he was one of the most intelligent posters here.

Someone said you always learned somethin' everytime timber posted. I couldn't agree more.

My condolescences to timber's loved ones. I hope they see this thread to know how many people Kevin touched.

Howdy, all

I found this board via a link on an Abuzz thread. Prowling around, I see quite a few names I recognize, and plenty more I look forward to getting to know. The Abuzzard's here probably know me well enough, but for the rest of you folks, I'm broadminded, broad of beam (and rather fond of Jim Beam), and perhaps by some I'm considered maybe just a little bit on the conservative side politically.
