Critic's words attacking words of others so pathetic,
Unworthy of even a passing thought is how I see it.
Yet who am I they may say to judge their invented sarcasms?
Unworthy to even lay my words before those vacant eyes.

Why do they fear this illiterate beginner poet?
This writer who spills his ugly guts before their minds.
Formats of their controlled hell is what scares me,
As their cookie cutter versions of poetry die from boredom.

Gruhn, Welcome to A2K. Your poem is unique and I really like the line: "cookie cutter versions of poetry die from boredom."

Usually, critics are frustrated writers. Razz

Gruhn,

I like it...especially liked the line cited by Letty, and also:

"..Yet who am I they may say to judge their invented sarcasms?.. "

and...

"...This writer who spills his ugly guts before their minds..."

Do you have any more to share?

jjorge, Who are you? A poet yourself, that's who. Cool

Perhaps Gruhn will return and acknowledge our critique. Smile

I would claim a poet's mantle
...but I can't

A fairer term my friend, is
...'aspirant'.

Is a critic's praise any more noteworthy than a critic's ciriticsm? I'd think not. But actors think differently.

Well, then, jjorge. Take two aspirants and call Emily in the morning. Smile

This is my letter to the world,
That never wrote to me,--
The simple news that Nature told,
With tender majesty.
Her message is committed
To hands I cannot see;
For love of her, sweet countrymen,
Judge tenderly of me!

Critical acclaim, Gruhn- it's good.

Letty, that is wonderful. Is this Emily D?

Hey, Jackie, Yes, that's the Belle of Amherst. Cool jjorge is an Emily fan, so I thought that I would post one of my favorites for him.
