FYI, I just saw one of the new dollar coins.
"E. Pluribus Unum" as well as "In God We Trust" are on the edges.
That is all!
At the risk of being called obtuse, may I ask what exactly do we get from the phrase "In God We Trust"? Is it supposed to be a philosphy in a nutshell? Because if it is, it's a nearsighted one destined to disappoint on more occasions than to succeed.
And shouldn't it be "In Gods We Trust" because there are so many of them in circulation in the United States, six or seven of them in my neighborhood alone.
"In God We Trust" doesn't seem like the kind of go-getter slogan this country needs. It sounds as if we hang around waiting for life to happen when in reality America seems to go barging about madly at every turn. Our slogan should be "Just Do It" or "Pump It!" or "Sit down, Shut up and Listen." That last one is directed at the other countries in the world who I am sure are confused by "In God We Trust". I'm sure other countries read that and say "Yeah?"
