@izzythepush,
Would Fergie have left if he thought they could do it again?

@izzythepush,

New hairdryer required for Mr Moyes. If they can't afford six or seven new players, that is. Shame.

@McTag,
Fair play to the City supporters for giving Jay Rodriguez a standing ovation when he was stretchered off. Sportsmanship at its best.

@izzythepush,

So that's the recipe: remove Rooney and Van Persie, and set the others free.
Plenty of talent there.
Watch out, Bayern Munich.

@McTag,
What did you think, Mac, of it turning out that there have been many occasions in recent years when we have been breathing air bad enough to ring the bell and have not been informed about them by any of the multitude of weather forecasters we have landed ourselves with at great expense.

Secondary consumerism it might be styled.

It was seemingly necessary for the air to draw attention to itself forcefully before we were trusted with such knowledge or that it came to light accidentally in the panic.

It also came to light that most of the deaths resulting from exposure to bad air would have soon occurred anyway because they were in the age range you and I are in and to persons already experiencing some breathing difficulties walking to the pub.

But now it has blown away and the air is no longer bad enough to be seen I suppose the subject will soon be forgotten in the general welter of events of more importance and pass out of our ken.

@McTag,
A young investor might consider a long-term stake in a company specialising in oxygen treatment systems.

I dare say that rich people living in cities which experience bad air a lot already have such appliances and use exchange bottle franchises as campers do with Calor gas.

They might become, before too long, a necessary addition to the array of domestic appliances in cities and even in those areas where the cloud of bad air floats off to. Taking an expansive definition of domestic appliances it is quite likely that those we now have are a significant contributor to the bad air cloud and it is ironic that the next generation of these items, breathing apparatus, will function to counter the effects of those of previous times.

@spendius,

I thought it ironic that our news outlets blamed "polluted air from the continent, and dust from the Sahara" for creating smog conditions around the biggest, most congested urban sprawl in Europe.

I've got a diesel car and it's a bit smoky on start-up.

No doubt some millionaires' mansions will be getting air-filtered rooms installed...especially if the gent (or lady) in question is elderly and infirm. These people can afford to buy anything, even air.

You probably need new injectors Mac.

@spendius,

It's getting a bit squeaky at the top of the Premiership now.

Marvellous from Everton today. Senor Martinez will go far, I'll bet. Well he's gone pretty far already, innit.

@McTag,
Yes--I'm hoping City and Liverpool uphold the honour of the North West.

And with Everton three in the Champion's League. And if Chelsea and Arsenal lose all their games and United win all theirs we might make a clean sweep.

Lee Rigby killer launches appeal

Michael Adebolajo, given a whole-life term for the killing of soldier Lee Rigby, launches an appeal against his sentence.

This guy is saying, if the USA and its allies, ourselves, can declare a "war" and then shoot unarmed citizens in Pakistan using drones, then why can't he reciprocate by doing the same thing here?
Okay he didn't have a drone, but he had a car and a meat cleaver. He was doing his best with the equipment to hand.
At least he targeted a serving soldier.

Shame he didn't meet Tony Blair in the street.

He is quite wrong about a number of facts.

The West did not simply declare war for no reason. They attacked us; we are merely defending ourselves from their aggression.

Also, DroneStrikes are aimed at legitimate military targets, not at "unarmed citizens".

But to answer his question "why is he not allowed to declare his own wars": He is not a nation-state. He is an individual person.

Tony Blair is a decent person. It's a shame these two thugs didn't meet an evil scumbag who supports sending innocent people to prison.

I know what the reason was. It's not one you will cite.

It was Saudis who attacked the Twin Towers. But "we" did not attack Saudi Arabia. I wonder why not.

The reason is because they came to the West and started massacring people. The War on Terror is a Just War of Self Defense.

Because we were smart enough to understand that we were not attacked by Saudi Arabia, and were in fact attacked by people who are the enemy of Saudi Arabia.

I realize you are a disingenuous freak and general all-around scumbag, but try not to be such a disingenuous freaky scumbag.

My posts were entirely on topic (and in addition were addressing a point that you raised). Your bitterness over realizing that I have once again been entirely correct does not justify your pretending that I was off topic.

I see Maria Miller finally saw sense. I was going to say 'did the decent thing,' but she would have had to have done that a long time ago. Farage must be licking his lips, if any constituency is potential UKIP territory it's Doughnut City. (So called because of all the bloody roundabouts.)

A benefit fraudster would get 3 years for the amounts I have heard about.

What are money grubbers doing in the Cabinet?
