@spendius,

You're blaming the girl and her mother, Spendy? Jumping to conclusions like that is more my province here.

Still, there might be some mileage in that. Did the mother really not know her daughter was involved with a married teacher? And then acted all shocked when they eloped? Where is the News of the World when you need it?

@izzythepush,
What's that, a Private Eye publication?
Who is the little squitty guy above the blessed Margaret?

@McTag,
Have you read Monica Ali's Brick Lane? It's an involving and evolving book on a similar situation, with the girl having an arranged marriage in Bangladesh to a fellow twenty years older and the couple then moving to London, where the mores are different.

@McTag,
I don't know who the guy is above the Thatch. This is a link to the website.

@izzythepush,
That's David Duckenfield, Chief Superintendent in charge of policing at Hillsborough Stadium.

Glad I could help.

@Ticomaya,
Thanks Tico. I knew he was a top copper, but it wasn't the chief constable at the time.

Me too. I should have remembered that name. But I think I never saw a picture of him. The man who gave the order to open the gate. A great face for radio.

The vultures and bloodsuckers (sorry, lawyers) are even now busy dusting off their wigs and sharpening their pens. Refreshers all round.

@McTag,

Good speech from Ed today.

"Have you ever seen a more incompetent, hopeless, out-of-touch, U-turning, pledge-breaking, make it up as we go along, back of the envelope miserable shower than this Prime Minister and this government?"

Why don't you just say what you mean, Ed?

@McTag,
I'm looking forward to the ladies playing 20/20 cricket on Sky Sports tomorrow.

I don't rate Milliband.

@spendius,
Sorry--Miliband. Trust a wanker to only have one "l" in Milliband.
Have you seen that photo of the silly sod kissing the only woman he dare shag whilst waving to his fans?

That's nearly as bad as the trick Flaubert did in brothels to amuse his mates.

@spendius,
Did you see Eve Pollard discussing the idea that women only really get the hang of shopping at 57. A Heinz soup joke I presume.

@izzythepush,
Only in a very attenuated sense of "makes". Heinz cans stuff the public's taste buds approve of.

@spendius,

Louise Michin and her faux-girlie voice, on the sofa in the morning, BBC Breakfast, I've had enough.
I liked Sian Williams, much superior.

They've got a right pair of lightweights with Charlie Staight and Minchin. I am favouring Eamonn Holmes and his crew on Sky nowadays.

They're all ghastly Mac. The lot. It goes to their heads I'm afraid.

Have you seen that ad with Holmes in the back of a car telling us all how wonderful he is? The fat slob.

@spendius,

Not everyone can be svelte and sexy like you and me, Spendy.
