@spendius,
There was something ineffably sad about Calcavecchia's caddie. And she looked ridiculous as well considering she has the necessaries to be kicking her legs up in a can-can show.

Anybody who has lugged an amateur golf bag around for four hours knows what constant low-key aggravation they provide. After two rounds she must have entertained the notion that she hoped the silly twat would miss the cut. No such luck though. She has four rounds to deal with and he's a bit bad tempered due to him not doing so good.

@spendius,
Golf is an ideal game for cultivating bad tempers. There are so many "if onlys"

@spendius,
That South African batsman with the mullah beard and bald head, Hasheesh Amla, has so far faced 441 balls and is 244 not out against a bowling attack that has recently sent the Aussies home sulking.

Have you any idea what concentration, courage and stamina is required for such a feat. And the bugger is still going strong.

The mamsellies who were on the podium in Paris were a bit of all right.

Contrastingly, a skinny cyclist in lycra racing kit and cycling shoes looks a bit strange and out of place without his bike.

But that race in the Elysian Fields was very exciting, and surprisingly went exactly to the Sky team script.

@McTag,
Mr Amla was 311 not out when the South Africans declared after something like 13 hours at the crease. Ten minutes later he was fielding at silly mid-off as alert as a cat that knows a mouse is under the wardrobe.

What's next?? Oh--the boring Olympics. All those heats. All those national anthems.

Those guys are not skinny Mac. And it is traditional for ladies to kiss a chap for puissant effort. And the winner of the Tour de France is bound to demand it be done by Misses Bitofalright. Ideally virgins.

@spendius,

The bloody BBC have started the bloody medal count thing already.

"How many do you think we will win? Will we win more than we did in Beijing?"

In contrast, I think Bradley Wiggins was excellent in his interviews.

Okay, well done too the SA baldy batsman, that was quite a knock.

It's not quite clear until now, if the new name for that street will be "Avenue des Anglais" or "Boulevard Murdoch" ... Wink

Here's what the bookies think Mac--

21 or less 5 to4, 22--24 3 to1, 19--21 7 to 2, 25--27 4 to 1, 16--18 5 to 1, 28--30 10 to 1, 13--15 12to 1, 25 to 1 and up others.

I would bet on both 19--21 and 16--18.

@spendius,

It's the taking part that's important, eh?

"Play up, play up, and play the game."

@McTag,
That's right. Get the cossies off those synchronised swimmers. Evertime they surface upside down we are reminded that there are things we are not supposed to see. Not in a neat pattern at least.

@spendius,
It's a constant reminder of how disreputable the private parts of ladies are.

It's disgraceful imo.

@spendius,

A lot of Newsnight last night was a report on female genital mutilation.

A lot of Somali immigrants still carry on the practice in this country, and from other parts of Africa as well. I had no idea it was so widespread. The French apparently are more active in trying to eradicate it than are we.

Barbaric and rather horrible.

@McTag,
Newsnight has lost the plot. It just pushes its PC agenda.

Paxman has been fiddling his tax by the sound of it and then claiming he was ordered to. A defence disqualified at Nuremberg.

@Walter Hinteler,

I don't think our lasses did very well. I didn't watch the whole thing, but there were some good moves.

They depended too much on the goalie. She was good, very brave and decisive.

@McTag,

Having seen some of the other ladies' matches on the News, I don't think Team GB is going to progress very far.

@spendius,

There were some clips of other ladies football matches on the tv news, and they looked a lot sharper than ours did. Notably, Brazil.
By "Team GB" I only meant the ladies football team this time, sorry for any confusion.
It was easier than writing British Ladies Soccer Team. A bit. Should that be "Womens's" btw? I'm a bit old-fashioned.

Gareth Bale unpopular this morning.

Sharpness is not a quality we ought to encourage our ladies to embrace imo.
