BEEF

My dear Ozzy friend - it's cut of beef that lends itself to slow cooking. Perfect for a winters day.

I wasn't aware I had slurred the Ozzy cricket team Shocked

But, if one of the caps - that seem to be important - fits...

No fog here Smorgs, although we are now a bit later in the day and I've just opened the curtains.
Fog last night, plenty, while we were coming back from Bury.

Saw a musical performance of some quality, R Vaughan Williams and Johannes Brahms. Especially the German Requiem, an ambitious piece for the local choral society to put on. The orchestra were very good too, a scratch group apparently, but full of skill and verve. A very creditable effort.

Brisket sounds very fine, slow-cooked with skill by Smorgie. We're not cooking today because we're taking the in-laws for an anniversary meal...66 years married, and counting. The restaurant is one we like, been before a few times, near Marple.

@Ionus,

Come on Oz. Our boys have taken the trouble to fly all the way out there, when they could be enjoying themselves at home. At least give them a game.

@McTag,
It'll be river then - just got back from Aldi - most impressed, though my pussy isn't, not with the cat food anyway. However, I have just put the batteries in my new electric pepper mill, it was very difficult! You have to squint to see which way to put them in - feel very macho now, and it works a treat. From now on, everything will be covered in electrified black pepper!

Did I get that wrong about caps? Is that footy? Or something to do with the Dutch?

McT - have Scottish footballers EVER played in kilts? And what's your stand on the snood debacle?

Spendachucklebutty - have you a snood?

Ionus - I'm sure you've no need for snoods, being foreign an all - but if you have, does it have corks on it?

Not since the Scottish Football Association was formed in 1888, in a snowstorm on Rannoch Moor, during a lull in the fighting between Celtic and Rangers.

I believe the FA should make it verboten for footballers even to wear undershirts. No gloves, no scarves, no hoods, and certainly no tights. Punishment, if the referee or his assistants suspect a player of sporting any of these aids, should be for the offending player to remain on the pitch during halftime, where he may be employed forking divots, shifting snow or repainting the white lines by hand.
No cup of tea, no change of warm socks, and no benefit of helpful advice from the manager.

Are you teasing me, or do you really think that?

Why?

Bet you think they should play with broken necks as well...

I'm wearing gloves, long-john one-piece thermals and a bob-hat, knitted with love, to walk to the pub. And it's only 300 yards.

So I'm in no position to talk about softies.

Don't you think you'll look out of place without a shirt and pants?

@plainoldme,
Are we to assume from that pom that the next time you mention your wearing a certain type of footwear, headgear or jewelry that you mean wearing them naked.

I never look out of place in the pub.

There's a rumour that the scriptwriters in Coronation Street have got so tangled up with their plot lines that they are going to arrange some mass exterminations to solve them all.

Is it true?

It was true. Brilliant. As good as anything Hollywood did. Don't miss it in the replay. If you don't laugh your head off you haven't got a sense of humour. Casualties are to be expected. That'll teach them to hold out on the contracts against the hands that feed them. A surgical strike.

@spendius,
Some people will care about this, I'm sure.

Woo, crossed with Spendy's last post. I like a bit of carnage, me.

Long johns seems a bit extreme to me.
But I must confess I did get some thermals of my own, tasteful separates, in the climbing and outdoor shop last week.
Cosy, or what?
Magic.

@spendius,
Congratulations Spendi, your boys showed who is the better side in this series. A whopping innings and 71 run win over the Aussie boys. They bowled the Colonials out for 304. Pietersen was named man of the match. Now on to Perth and the Ashes could be yours for an early Christmas present.
