Mctag did I ever say thank you to the scots for sorting johnny wilkinson. If I didn't please pass my regards along. If I did, it wont matter he deserved it anyway. Have your Aussie guests arrived?

It was a pleasure, don't mention it.

Nah, they're still up north somewhere. Probably sampling our deep-fried Mars Bars.

Are you barmy or what?

The "Wall of Death" is a manifestation of organic exigencies which I am trying to avoid. Not bring on.

Just had the pleasure watching (delayed telecast) of Aust winning the union match against the taffy.

Snatched it after the hooter.

Hey up Gus, was that you passing me on the second rev?

Tell you what mate, it's never been done on a trike, what say we find Spendi, fasten him to the tank and spin him around together?

That should get us in The Guiness Book of Records!!

Why don't you try wanking for six weeks non-stop.

That's more likely to get you into the record books than an itsy-bitsy trike display with me or anybody else.

The Wall of Death is really, really old fashioned and, not to put too fine a point on it, somewhat twee like the pirouetting angel on the wedding cake.

Can't you get up to speed with modern cutting edge cynicism or what?

They use a funny foreign-looking motorcycle, more like a vintage French moped, to pace cyclists in the Velodrome and to start races. A stinky two-stroke engine, too.

Seems like a quaint outmoded custom, a throwback.

Can anyone shed any light on the practice?

It's probably due to the modern practice of surrounding sporting events with the maximum number of officials and equipment that the gate money will run to.

No I want to know why they use that anachronistic funny looking little pacing bike when almost any other pacing method would be preferable.
And not necessarily using fewer people either.
Why use an old smelly i.c. engine for that? On the Wall of Death, you can understand it. But not in an enclosed cycling arena, for a sporting event.

Cold_erin had this to say,

Hello mother, Hello father,

Here I am in Do-o-oncaster...

Jolly Old England....Hurrah! Its raining today (surprising, really) and
we've been for Sunday lunch at a pub along a road with green stuff round
it. Then we went for tea in a tea room. Very civilized. Just trying to
buy a train ticket for Swe now....

How exciting for her, first time in a foreign country, perhaps?

It's a real shame that the weather has turned shitty. But Australians probably quite like rain. Believe me, it palls after about 36 hours.

We have had long spells of sunny warm weather already this year, and now it's gone cold, windy and wet.
Hpoefully it will turn again soon. How long is she here for?

Not. Spent 12 months an exchange student in Sweden. Visited 14 counties (or something like that) in two weeks on tour as a small part of the exchange.

More or less a stop over for her to visit Mumpads brother. He has a new girlfrind so she needs to get the once over from a family member, and production work on a the British schools Rock Challenge. One show only I think.

Woman of the world now.

I've got some sad news for her. You can't go from Doncaster to Sweden by train. At least I don't think you can?

Just got a call from friends in British Columbia. They are coming over to Stockholm, and wondered if they could call in here, being quite near...
