Why so? He's lied to us and brought about the deaths of hundreds of thousands
of innocents. He should answer for it.

@McTag,
I don't believe that he doesn't answer for it within his own conscience. And one might say the same about all those who voted for it on all sides. The pacifist argument embraces all those who took part in it as well.

It is a very complex matter Mac and I don't think you simplifying it as you do serves any useful purpose.

@spendius,

He went to war on a falsified prospectus. He lied to the nation about it. He agree to commit us before it was debated, and it wasn't even properly debated, in Parliament. Then, the reported "facts" were fitted round the policy.

Sorry if that's too simplified for you.

@McTag,
Quick pop in to say hi to you and wifey, McT.

My daughter and I went to see Cohen in Vancouver about 6 weeks ago. I'd seen him before and he always does a grand show with musicians and vocalists of the highest caliber. But his team this time numbered among the very best musicians and singers I have ever heard. Every one of them. Likely the last time I'll be able to seem him perform live.

@blatham,

Hiya Bernie, shame we don't see more of you.
I've only got Spendy to talk to here, and you know how trying that can be.

Where was I discussing Leonard Cohen's band, on Facebook? Yes, marvellous, very classy ensemble. I'm sorry I missed them here, Fiona's colleague went with her daughter and said they loved it.

@McTag,
I don't really see the point of coming on this evil contraption unless one intends to be "trying". There are plenty of people around here to pass the time of day with in innocuous banter.

I saw a video a few years ago of Cohen having a tantrum in Israel. The audience clapped and cheered when he started up one of his popular songs and he wouldn't have it. He stalked off stage and had to be coaxed back with promises that the paying customers had been properly lectured to.

I've never liked the silly sod since and boy oh boy is he miserable? I think he's an affectation of a certain sort of uppity liberal of the chattering class fraternity. Good backing gets hired like plumbers.

I've seen Dylan perform with two dozen punters on the stage jiving and bopping, one of two kissing him and shaking hands, and him not missing a beat.

@spendius,
I went shopping tonight. I had a minder with me mind you. He looked after the technical stuff. I just had to nod.

It's years since I went shopping. We went to Comet. I had a walk round and I must say I can understand all this credit card debt, the temptation is scary.

It was £699.99 but my minder had discovered on Hotdeal that there was a 10% discount for purchases of over £700. So we bought a battery pack for £1.99 and thus saved about £70.

I bought a 47" flat screen TV. Fantastic!! I can hardly wait for the horseracing.

You can see all the crow's feet on the presenters and the inchoate zits. And the suits the chaps wear are incredible. XXX Housewives should be good after the pub.

@spendius,

Quite serious at times, but not miserable. Strange that you should like Dylan but not Cohen. I conclude this is just one of the positions you are fond of taking.

Up to a point. Great artists attract good musicians.

@spendius,

I need some advice about a new telly too. The time has just about come for us to take the plunge. Martin Dawes had a nice one on offer last week, but I must confess I do not know the pros and cons of LED, plasma and HD.

Years ago, the Americans had a notably inferior broadcasting system. Have they caught up yet?

@McTag,
Mr Cohen, Mac, is not on the same planet as Bob. They have nothing in common. Bob's a killer. Cohen's a weepy sentimentalist.

They pay more is why. And it is a plus on their CV.

@spendius,

I think that's a minority view, but you're welcome to it.

I confess to being a late convert to the quality of the Cohen ouevre.
I used to think it was just music to commit suicide by, but I was wrong.

We know Queenie.

He was great though. It's amazing how his departure has wiped politicians out.

@The Pentacle Queen,

I bet he was taking slimming drugs for his upcoming tour (50 concerts planned at the O2 Arena!).

Cancelled now.

Nobody's answered this yet.

What Spendy does today, the world does tomorrow. I'm going down to see about a new telly. Her indoors has the day off, we can peruse the merchandise together and try to pick the salespersons' brains.

@McTag,
No chance of picking a salesperson's brains Mac. They are trained to know our very souls.

Go to hotdeals.co.uk That's the best punter's attempt to defeat them that my gopher knows but a Pyrrhic victory is all you can hope for.

From 8ft. say, a 47 incher is a bit overwheming and I would leave that aspect to HI.
